Experience Details*
Get a real taste of authentic Antiguan hospitality, and try local treats and rum in a backyard rum shop.
Take a short drive to a Caribbean rum shack in St John’s, on Sir Vivian Richards Street – the street where Antigua’s favourite son was born. You’ll receive a friendly welcome from the husband-and-wife owners of the rum shack, before going on a fun journey though the history of local rum making. There will be plenty of stories and legends, followed by a tasting of three Antiguan rums and a variety of tasty Antiguan and Caribbean specialities. Local treats include conch fritters, saltfish fritters, and jerk chicken, all made from fresh ingredients. And you can take the chef’s secret recipes home.
