In Alberobello you’ll find a whole town full of stone dwellings known as ‘trulli’, almost unreal looking, like a film set. Your guide will take you on a walking tour of Alberobello and explain the ancient origins of these adorable little buildings, which date back to around the 16th century. In order to avoid tax burdens for the village foundations, the Count of Conversano asked peasants to build dry stone roofed houses, which were easily dismantled in case of a Royal Inspection. Look out for the ancient symbols on the roofs, which indicated which family the ‘trullo’ belonged to.
You’ll have free time in Alberobello to explore the twisted cobbled streets at your leisure, browse the small shops or relax in a local café and soak up the atmosphere.

This excursion operates by coach and on foot. The journey time to Alberobello is approximately 1¼ hours. Passengers are advised that there is approximately 2 hours’ walking over some cobbled surfaces, steps and steep inclines. There is a 15 minute flat walk from the coach parking area to Alberobello. Those not wishing to take the guided walk may opt to have more free time in Alberobello. Public toilet facilities are limited in Alberobello and a 50 cents charge is applicable.
