Alberobello

In Alberobello you’ll find a whole town full of stone dwellings known as ‘trulli’, almost unreal looking, like a film set. Your guide will take you on a walking tour of Alberobello and explain the ancient origins of these adorable little buildings, which date back to around the 16^th century. In order to avoid tax burdens for the village foundations, the Count of Conversano asked peasants to build dry stone roofed houses, which were easily dismantled in case of a Royal Inspection. Look out for the ancient symbols on the roofs, which indicated which family the ‘trullo’ belonged to.
