Trail of the Arawak Indians
Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba
moderate
3:00 Hours
Discover hidden scenes as you retrace the trail of the Arawak Indians on a 4x4 adventure.
Perched above the giant wheels of your Unimog vehicle, you’ll have a fantastic view as you rumble through Bonaire’s capital, Kralendijk, and along the cactus-lined dirt road that leads to Subi Rincon. Driving up to the top of this hill, you’ll soak up mesmerising vistas across the colourful village of Rincon (Bonaire’s oldest) and the sparkling Caribbean Sea.
As you peer inside a cave once used for shelter by the Arawak Indians, your guide will provide fascinating insight into the way of life of the people who brought their culture to Bonaire when they arrived from South America over 1,000 years ago. At nearby Boca Onima Bay, marvel at the spectacular east coast and take a look at the Arawak rock paintings.
Round off your experience by photographing the whole island from the stunning Seru Largu viewpoint, before enjoying the leisurely drive back to your ship.
