Take a scenic boat ride along the coast to Kjerringøy, where you’ll step into the past at the beautifully preserved Kjerringøy Trading Post. Nestled in stunning countryside, this open-air museum is a collection of 19th-century heritage buildings that once played a key role in supplying goods to Lofoten’s fishermen. Watch an engaging audio-visual presentation of life here in the 19th-century, before setting off on a guided tour of the Trading Post Museum and the elegant Zahl family house, which is filled with Italianate busts and embroidered curtains. Afterward, enjoy some free time exploring on your own, before the boat ride back.

Essential information
There is approximately 900m walk over gravel each way to/from the ship to the guest harbour for the boat ride to/from Trading post. The walk from the boat to the Trading post is approximately 600m each way. It is recommended guests wear comfortable walking footwear and dress for the weather in layers. At Kjerringøy Trading Post there is some uneven terrain outside and some steps inside buildings. Guests should bring local currency for any purchases as many vendors do not accept credit cards.
