Heading towards Etna, your drive will take you through villages located on the southern slopes of the volcano; such as Trecastagni, Pedara and Nicolosi. You'll see the remnants of the past and more recent eruptions and see the streams of solidified lava like a black petrified river cascading down from the top of the mountain. Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe at 10,000 feet high. Take in the panoramic views from the volcano and over the city of Catania, overwhelmed by an eruption 300 years ago. Take a walk around the lunar like landscape of Crateri Silvestri and visit 3 extinct craters formed after an eruption at the beginning of 19th century. Enjoy some free time to browse the souvenir shops or purchase a refreshing drink before heading back to Catania.

The drive from Catania is approximately 1¼ hours each way, traffic permitting. Traffic can be heavy in and around Catania and delays may be experienced. Views of Mount Etna and surrounding areas are dependent on local weather conditions. The terrain around the crater is uneven and rocky, so flat, covered shoes with good grip are essential. A jacket is advisable. This tour does not visit the summit of Mount Etna. Passengers wishing to use the restrooms are expected to pay 50 cents. Prior to the commencement of your shore experience, you may be asked to sign a Waiver Form by the Shore Experience operator in order to partake in the experience. Waiver Forms are popular outside of the UK and they are designed to inform participants of any potential risks associated with the activity. Waiver Forms are not enforceable in the UK courts and do not entitle the operator to be negligent or exclude or restrict their duty of care.
