Sit back and soak up the typical Italian scenery, on your ride to Taormina, which is perched on a terrace high above the sea. Built by the Greeks in the 4th century BC, it was completely renovated by the Romans.
Walking through the atmospheric city, your informative guide will introduce you to its many charms. You’ll see the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and stroll along the bustling Corso Umberto, lined with enchanting architecture. You’ll pass the Porta Catania, Clock Tower and Porta Messina, and get stunning panoramic views over the Gulf of Taormina from the Piazza IX April terrace.
You’ll see the characteristic pumice-work of Taormina’s architecture, at the 15th-century Palazzo Corvaja, and get a quick glimpse of the elaborate Sicilian carriage in the inner courtyard.
But the city’s crowing jewel is its impressive Greco-Roman theatre. Dating back to the 3rd century BC, the theatre's dramatic location, overlooking of the Bay of Naxos, Calabrian coast and Mt Etna, is spellbinding.

Essential information
Lifts must be used from the parking area to access the town centre. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Taormina is a popular destination, which can become very crowded in peak season. Passengers wishing to use the café restrooms in Taormina are expected to make a purchase. Euros and credit or debit cards are accepted for purchases. If queues form for the use of the lift, then the return to the parking area will be via 140 steps. There are some tunnels (no longer than 2 minutes long) to pass through on the journey to Taormina.
