Departing the port, set off on a scenic drive into the hills and up to Monte Hacho, a low mountain that overlooks the city. Along the way, take in the imposing landscape, rugged headland and seven peaks.
Visit the San Antonio Hermitage, a small chapel popular with Ceuta’s inhabitants, as San Antonio is one of the most worshipped saints in town. Local women believe that if they sit at the foot of the altar, turn 3 times and ask for a husband, their wish will be granted. From here, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views over the Strait of Gibraltar and Ceuta.
Continue to the Mediterranean Marine Park, one of the symbols of the modern city. Enjoy a guided visit and some free time to explore this splendid leisure park of saltwater pools, palm trees and various restaurants.
Your next stop is at Plaza de Africa – a square that houses the monument dedicated to those who lost their lives in the African War. During a guided walking tour of the area, you’ll see the Cathedral, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Africa and the Palace of the Assembly. You’ll also visit the Royal City walls, an impressive fortified defensive construction that divides the city into two parts.
