In the Footsteps of the Durrells

Sit back, relax and enjoy a scenic drive, as you head south along the coast to Perama, the area of Corfu where the family first moved to. Whilst you can only view the rooftop of the strawberry pink villa in the distance, you can admire the natural beauty and views, the same that the Durrells experienced.

Then it’s on to Kontokali Bay where the family then moved to the Daffodil Yellow villa. Standing 4 stories high and resplendent in its surroundings, the villa so closely mirrors the descriptions Gerald gives in the various stories set there. An exterior view outside the gates of the villa will allow you to picture Theo or Donald and Max, clopping their way to the front door in their horse-drawn carriages, or Spiro honking his way up in his ancient Dodge. Next, you’ll drive to Kalami, where the famous Nobel-awarded British writer Lawrence Durrell loved to bathe.

At Kalami village, have your camera ready for a photo stop at the famous White House villa, the former residence of Lawrence Durrell, which nowadays operates as a taverna and hotel.
