On 6 June 1944, Allied forces invaded Nazi-occupied France in a combined land, air and sea attack that would become the most significant victory of the Second World War. See some of the key sites involved in the D-Day landings, starting with Pegasus Bridge, the first bridge in France to be captured by the Allies. Continue on to the D-Day Museum in Arromanches to find out about the heroic sacrifices of the Allied forces in Operation Overlord. You’ll also visit the Longues-sur-Mer battery, the German defensive artillery battery that attacked the Allied ships on the morning of 6 June.
