Together with a small group, head to the west side of the weather-swept Cotentin Peninsula and lose yourself in the otherworldly Botanical Garden of Vauville.
Soak up the subtropical atmosphere as you roam around the expansive grounds, where over 1,000 species of plants from the Southern Hemisphere are able to thrive thanks to the warm currents from the Gulf Stream.
Discover the palm groves of trachycarpus fortunei from China, admire the moats and their royal ferns from Tasmania and smell the sweet eucalypti in the Garden of Wisdom. ‘Meet’ some of the animals at the small farm and once you’ve worked up a thirst, head inside the castle-like, 17th century Château de Vauville, which has been owned by the same family for hundreds of years.
Relax and enjoy a cup of tea or try a glass of local apple juice or cider as you tuck into a tasty Grévillais – a famous caramelised pastry stuffed with apple.

Essential information

This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. The drive from Cherbourg to Vauville Gardens is approximately 45 minutes each way. There is some uneven, sandy ground at the Gardens.
