Nestled in the outskirts of Fort De France, the Balata Botanical Garden has been 20 years in the making, thanks to the dedication of owner Mr Thoze. A landscape architect and keen gardener, he has carefully designed his idyllic rainforest-like garden using over 3,000 varieties of plants. As you stroll through the heavenly array of tropical colours, be sure to cross the suspension footbridge, which at 6 meters above the ground offers spectacular views over the garden. En route to the garden, you’ll also stop to see the exterior of Sacré-Coeur De La Balata, a smaller replica of Paris’ Sacré-Coeur.

This tour will operate by coach and on foot and involves around 2 hours of walking over varying terrain including uneven ground. Due to the winding roads this tour is not recommended for vertigo sufferers, and those prone to travel sickness are advised to take the appropriate medication. The suspension footbridge is not suitable for pregnant women or children under the age of 7.
