Balata Botanical Gardens

Nestled in the outskirts of Fort De France, the Balata Botanical Garden has been 20 years in the making, thanks to the dedication of owner Mr Thoze. A landscape architect and keen gardener, he has carefully designed his idyllic rainforest-like garden using over 3,000 varieties of plants. As you stroll through the heavenly array of tropical colours, be sure to cross the suspension footbridge, which at 6 meters above the ground offers spectacular views over the garden. En route to the garden, you’ll also stop to see the exterior of Sacré-Coeur De La Balata, a smaller replica of Paris’ Sacré-Coeur.
