Arctic Foxes and Folklore
Port
Isafjordur, Iceland
Activity Level
moderate
Duration
3:00 Hours
Sit back and enjoy a scenic drive to Súðavík, a small village set beneath snow-dusted mountains with sweeping coastal views. Founded in the 19th century, it boasts a close-knit community feel, and it’s also home to the Arctic Fox Centre. Here you’ll learn all about Iceland’s only native land mammal and its place in local history. And you may get a chance to see foxes in rescue enclosures, depending on conditions. After some local refreshments, you’ll visit the village church for a traditional Icelandic music performance. While heading back, you’ll have fantastic views of Ísafjarðardjúp – one of Iceland’s largest fjords.
