Experience Details*

Sit back and soak up wonderful views of rural life in the small farming villages that dot your route to Olympia – a part of the world steeped in myths and legends. Stroll through the beautiful sanctuary with its temples, altars and treasuries. Be captivated by the intriguing stone ruins. The trees around you are said to have been planted by Zeus' son, Hercules, to mark the boundaries of his father's domain. Stand beside the towering columns of the Temple of Zeus, and you can almost believe its true.

It’s in Olympia that the Olympic flame is relit every four years and delivered to each new city that hosts the games. Step up to the marble starting line in the original Olympic stadium, where the first athletes competed in 776 BC. You can even run the course, or walk if you prefer. It’s a fascinating glimpse of ancient Greek life.
