Hiking Kotor City Walls

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the City Walls of Kotor stretch for almost 5 kilometres, encompassing the city and offering those who embrace the challenge of climbing them, wonderful views of the bay of Kotor and the Old Town.Your guide will join you at the pier and lead you on foot to the entrance of the walls, which represent a mixture of well-preserved ramparts, gates, churches and fortresses.As you begin your ascent along the rugged paths, step back in time as your knowledgeable guide brings to life the history of the fortifications and the important part they played in the protection of the city during numerous sieges.Pause midway for a well-earned rest and to capture photos of the wonderful views below.Afterwards, continue climbing to the highest point, where you’ll find the well-preserved fortress of St John and be rewarded with a magnificent view of the harbour and the red roofs of the Old Town. Marvel at the views before your descent back down to the Old Town.
