Put on your walking shoes and explore Kusadasi’s captivating attractions and sights – on foot.
Although it’s considered the gateway to the wonders of Ephesus, you’ll find historic Kusadasi has its own colourful character and rich culture.
Starting along the waterfront, you’ll walk past sparkling waters, and out a long causeway that leads to charming Pigeon Island – symbol of the city. There you’ll find the ruins of a 13th-century Byzantine fortress, nestled atop a rocky promontory and encircled by beautiful views of harbour and city.
Then you’ll stroll the ancient cobbles of Kaleici, the Old Town or inner castle. Surrounded by Ottoman-era Kusadasi architecture, you’ll encounter a bustling bazaar filled with local merchants plying their wares. Set in the very centre of this energetic area, you’ll also pass the city’s peaceful mosque, which boasts an elegant door, inlaid with mother of pearl.
Afterwards, you’ll have the option of attending a carpet presentation before returning to your ship.
