A scenic drive along La Coruna’s waterfront will take you past the Mendez Nunez Gardens and Castillo de San Anton, before reaching the city’s most important monument, the Tower of Hercules. Pause briefly to capture photos of this wonderful Roman lighthouse that was erected in 2nd century AD.
Nearby, the Aquarium Finisterrae is an interactive centre for marine biology, oceanography and the creatures of the sea. Upon arrival you’ll have free time to visit independently and view the pools and aquariums containing more than 600 species of marine life. The Nautilus Room is based on the study of Captain Nemo in the Nautilus and holds an observation tank filled with Atlantic fish in 4.4 million litres of water, the largest tank in Europe. Ensure to visit the Octopus Garden, jellyfish and seahorses and don’t forget to pop in on the two families of Atlantic seals!
Your drive back to the ship will take you along the coastline to view the beaches of Orzan and Riazor, before passing the Millennium Monument and the city centre.
