Experience Details*

The historic city of Santiago de Compostela is Galicia’s most famous and illustrious city, boasting World Heritage status and a magnificent Romanesque cathedral. The cathedral itself is the final destination for thousands of Christian pilgrims who walk the ‘Way of St James’ pilgrimage across Galicia, eager to visit the tomb of the saint himself.

Within your small group, join your knowledgeable guide for a guided visit inside the cathedral. Marvel at the flawless design of the interior and take time to admire the main alter and the statue of St James. You’ll also venture down the narrow staircase to the crypt, where the remains of St James are believed to be buried.

Continue with your guide to the cathedral’s museum, which showcases a wonderful collection of important archaeological exhibits portraying the rich history of Santiago de Compostela.

Pause for photos at Plaza del Obradoiro, which is the focal point for pilgrims arriving in the city, and the square of Plaza de las Platerias, with its ornate ‘fountain of horses’.

Complete your tour at the beautiful Parador Hostal dos Reis Católicos, where delicious tapas accompanied by wine will be served.
