Experience Details*
Upon arrival at La Spezia, you will board a boat to Portovenere. This famously picturesque village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour the quaint town with your guide; then, enjoy some free time to explore independently or people-watch along the waterfront.
Next, reboard the ferry and head north up the Ligurian coastline to reach Monterosso. This is perhaps the most famous of the five villages of the Cinque Terre, and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The town is divided into two distinct parts - San Cristoforo Hill, and the old maritime village protected by a rocky spur. This is the only village with a wide beach and a significant seafront. After your guide points out the highlights of Monterosso, enjoy some more free time to continue your exploration.
A local train ride brings you to Levanto, where you will board the coach for the drive back to Livorno.

Essential information
The ferry is not exclusive to P&O Cruises. Lunch is at your own expense. In the event of unfavorable sea conditions, the ferries/boat ride will be replaced by a train. If you wish to swim at Monterosso, wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat. Cinque Terre is crowded on holidays, and on Sundays in May. The Cinque Terre is a popular destination; expect crowding in the villages. You will likely encounter a long line while waiting to board the boat; boarding is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
