During the 20th century, this railroad gave birth to the nation's banana industry that shaped its fortunes. Now it's a great way to explore, keeping an eye out for colourful creatures along the way.
Transfer to a pontoon boat for a cruise along Tortuguero's impressive canal network, where you may be lucky enough to spot howler, spider and capuchin monkeys, as well as sloths, caimans, bats and several species of birds and lizards.
