Marvel at the imposing Águas Livres Aqueduct with its 14 colossal arches bestriding the Alcântara Valley. Your historian guide will share fascinating facts about the system that first brought fresh drinking water to the city.
You’ll visit Mãe d’Água reservoir, with its steep staircases, to encounter the gravity-fed process supplying many major fountains. Then, it’s on to the subterranean Loreto Galleries, one of several used in the process, from where stored water was transported into the city.
