Get your bearings on a scenic drive south to Miami Beach. Admire the marvellous, flamboyant, ice-cream coloured Art Deco buildings, dating back to the early 1900s. The city has the highest concentration of Art Deco architecture in the world, preserved thanks to the Miami Design Preservation League, which fought developers in the 1970s to save the buildings from demolition.
Enjoy this fabulous city on your own, with a leisurely stroll along South Beach. Watch the world go by from a table in an Ocean Drive restaurant, and browse the boutiques and shops along pedestrianised Lincoln Road.
