Mardi Gras, French for Fat Tuesday, was introduced to New Orleans by the explorers, Iberville and Bienville, who discovered and named it Mardi Gras Bayou in 1699. Mardi Gras has been celebrated ever since with feasting, entertainment and partying before the 40 days of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

Take the traditional Mardi Gras parade route through the Garden District and pass beautiful mansions along St Charles Avenue. During your journey, your guide will relate the wild tales of Mardi Gras processions and celebrations. You may even see some of the Mardi Gras throws still nestled in the branches of the trees.

You’ll head towards Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World where the Mardi Gras floats are built and stored for future parades. Wander through this world of madness with your Mardi Gras beads and take some fabulous pictures!
