Cape Kidnappers Gannet Safari
Port
Napier, New Zealand
Activity Level
moderate
Duration
4:30 Hours
Hop into a 4WD and soak up sweeping views of Hawke’s Bay on your way to Cape Kidnappers – the world's largest mainland gannet colony. Named by Captain Cook after a daring rescue of his Tahitian interpreter, this place is buzzing with history. At the Plateau colony, you'll get up close to over 1,000 nesting pairs of gannets and also see the feathery residents of nearby Black Reef colony. Requiring very little walking, this walk is great for all ages. Enjoy morning tea at a local farm before returning to Napier to ride through the city’s famous Art Deco District.
