Your tour will begin exploring this fully restored lighthouse and see remains of the two hundred year old Fort Hamilton, now an important wildlife sanctuary. First lit in 1870, the Rose Island Lighthouse was lovingly restored to its original late 19th-century ambiance in 1993, and remains a classic example of American maritime architecture.

Due to its strategic location, Rose Island has been of military importance since the Revolutionary War. Today, it plays an important role as home to a number of migrating birds. A visit to this ‘living museum’ offers an insight into a life spent tending the lighthouse and raising families in dedicated self-sufficiency. Following your visit to the lighthouse, re-board your motor boat for the return to the pier.
