Sit back and soak up the striking scenery on a ride to mainland Malaysia via the 13.5-kilometre Penang Bridge. At Bukit Merah, a water theme park surrounded by a 7,000-acre lake, you’ll hop onto a boat and cruise out to Orang Utan Island. This 35-acre forested-island is a breeding sanctuary, as well as a rehabilitation and conservation facility for this endangered species. You’ll get up close and personal with the orangutans as you walk through a caged-in walkway, 100-metres long, while they are free climb, swing and feed in their natural habitat all around you. It’s an unforgettable experience!

This tour is dependent on tidal conditions and may be cancelled at short notice. There is around 1½ hours of walking on this tour, over varying terrain, including steps. Flat, comfortable closed toe shoes are essential. guests are advised to take insect repellent and sun protection. The boat ride is not exclusive to P&O Cruises.
