Sit back and relax as you enjoy all the captivating sights from the comfort of your motorcoach. One of the names you are sure to recognise is Heineken, as you pass their famous brewery. They began making beer in Amsterdam in 1864, and now they brew in more than 70 countries across the globe.
You’ll see the spectacular neoclassical facade of the Royal Concertgebouw concert hall, which opened on 11 April 1888 and boasts some of the best acoustics in the world. Then you’ll pass the large Tropenmuseum, which is housed in a beautiful listed building constructed in 1926. This ethnographic museum hosts a range of exhibitions, including visual arts and photographic works.
Your drive will also take you to Java Island. This thin peninsula was created during dredging work in the 19th century and was originally used for shipping services. After years of standing derelict, the area was transformed in the 1990s, and is known today for its exceptional residential architecture.
