Your scenic drive will take you through Rotterdam’s outskirts to travel through Dutch Polderland, laced with canals and dotted with farms, to nearby Kinderdijk. Kinderdijk is home to 19 original windmills dating back to 1740, many of which are still in working order. These mills are the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands and one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. Take the opportunity to explore the site, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. During your visit one of the mill owners will conduct a tour of the interior of a working windmill., before the return journey to the pier.
