Step aboard the narrow-gauge train for a relaxing ride on the line that was built in the early 20th century to transport sugar cane from the fields to Basseterre. Choose between the air-conditioned lower level or the open-sided top deck of the custom-built cars and hear fascinating facts about the island’s colourful history as you chug along the spectacular northeast coast. Be sure to have your camera at the ready, because the views out to sea are simply sensational.
Sip soft drinks (or perhaps a rum punch or two) from the bar in your carriage. Enjoy musical entertainment as you gently wind through quiet farms and colourful villages, admiring the expansive light-green fields of cane. Arriving at La Vallée station, you’ll alight and continue your exploration of the island with a panoramic drive that takes you back to your ship.

Essential information
Guests must be able to negotiate steps on and off the train and bus. There are approximately 8 steps leading to the upper level of the train. Seats on the upper level cannot be guaranteed. This tour may operate either by train from Needsmust to the substation returning by bus, or vice versa. Total time on the train will be approximately 2 hours. This tour is not suitable for those with injuries or conditions that may be affected by the bumpy ride.
