Admire the tranquil landscapes on the scenic drive out of Stavanger and stop off to photograph the striking monument to the 872 battle of Hafrsfjord, where three 33-foot-tall bronze swords plunge into rocks on the coastline.
If you’ve ever thought life was simpler in ancient times, here’s your chance to really find out. Meet the costumed lady of the house at the Iron Age Farm and explore the reconstructed longhouses. Gather round the hearth with your small group and try to light a fire with flint and steel, just as a family would have done 1500 years ago.
Bake your own fresh pan bread in the embers and step outside to try your hand at archery. Before you return to your ship, make a necklace from leather and decorate it with runic letters – the perfect memento of your unique experience.
