Visit the nearby geothermal expression known as Hell’s Gate. As you stroll around boiling mud pools and through billowing clouds of geothermic steam, you’ll discover a host of fascinating explanations and historical references to the Maori history of the geothermal wonderland. A picturesque journey through Kiwifruit Country, one of NZ’s most abundantly productive regions, will transport you inland to the Bay of Plenty Country Estate. You will enjoy an open-country style BBQ banquet lunch and your hosts will share the interesting history of the Estate. On your way back to the ship, you will stop at a local village hall where you can browse and shop a variety of local produce, gifts and mementos of your visit to the Bay of Plenty.
