Travel through Tauranga to a traditional Maori Marae, a sacred outdoor space in the heart of the village. As you enter the gates of the Marae, you will be warmly greeted by the tangata whenua (local people) before being taken on a unique cultural journey through their Maori heritage and early New Zealand life.You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy an arts and crafts display of weaving clothing and baskets from local flax, also experience a typical Maori folklore performance featuring action songs, poi dances, stick games and the haka war dance.

Light refreshments will be served at the Marae, before departing for Minden Lookout, where you’ll be able to appreciate the wonderful views of the Bay of Plenty. Continue on a scenic drive back to the ship.
