Immerse yourself in the wonder of the Northern Lights at the Science Centre of Northern Norway. An enveloping film is shown in the planetarium here and, as you let your gaze drift in any direction, the 360-degree images beamed onto the surrounding dome create the feeling of staring up at the natural phenomenon.

Visit the diverse Tromsø University Museum to find out about the area’s geology, religion, natural history and wildlife. Be sure to check out the exhibition on Sámi culture, which gives an intriguing insight into how the indigenous people stay true to their roots, even today.

A panoramic drive reveals many of Tromsø’s most important landmarks and you’ll pause to see one of the most famous – the Arctic Cathedral. Inaugurated in 1965, its cutting-edge design still looks fresh, while the interior is dominated by a huge stained-glass window depicting the return of Christ.
