Polaria and Huskies
Get to know the real Arctic and encounter its native creatures.
A warm welcome awaits you at Tromsø Wilderness Centre, where Tove Sørensen and Tore Albrigtsen live with their Alaskan huskies. Well known for their various endurance races with dogs, you’ll be enthralled by tales of their expeditions, including crossing Greenland on skis. Wear old clothes if you want to meet the dogs! They’ll be happy to see you, so be prepared for a muddy paw or two and a furry cuddle.
The Polaria centre is housed in a unique building designed to represent ice floes. Immerse yourself in the spectacular exhibitions, including the panoramic film of Spitsbergen flora and fauna. Gazing up at the marine life above, you’re likely to spot bearded seals looking curiously down on you – a rare and charming sight.
