Experience Details*
Enjoy a guided walking tour through the UNESCO city of Visby, one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Scandinavia.
It’s just a short ride to Hanseatic Visby, the ‘City of Roses’. After walking across a bridge over a dry moat, you’ll enter the city through Dalmans Gate. This is one of the main entrances through the medieval wall that stretches for 3.4 km around the city.
As you stroll through a maze of twisting, cosy alleyways, you’ll find yourself at a fantastic view point, right above the 11th-century Sankta Maria Cathedral. You’ll also get stunning views over the terracotta rooftops and across the azure sea.
From there, you’ll make your way downhill, through more winding, narrow lanes, past church ruins and stately houses. You’ll pass through the ‘Big Square’ and the main street, and hear all about the captivating history of Visby as a trading city.
Walking through Fisherman’s Gate, you’ll pass the serene Botanical Garden, and finish your walk at Almedalen. Today, this former medieval harbour is a lush, relaxing park and meeting point.
