Take a short transfer to the top of Signal Hill, where you’ll set off on a guided hike. Take in spectacular panoramic views of the coastal landscape and captivating scenery of one of the Canada's busiest working ports, considered by many to be North America's 'first city'. Discover the area's most popular hiking trail while descending almost 500 feet in elevation to sea level. Admire the flora from wild flowers to berry bushes (if in season) and if you’re lucky you’ll catch sight of a variety of local birdlife.
At the end of the trail, head back towards your ship on foot via the New World's first European street.
Essential information
This excursion will operate by coach or school bus and on foot. This tour is only for those in good physical condition. The hike is over approximately 3km and has some steep inclines and steps. This tour is not recommended for children. The hike is over terrain that is uneven, has many loose rocks and over 300 wooden steps and travels along high cliffs. Some sections of the trail are narrow and adjacent to steep drops. This may be a concern for persons with a fear of heights. There are sections where the trail rises almost 100 metres, which is similar to climbing a 20-story building. Hikers should be careful to take their time and not over exert themselves. Footwear suitable for hiking over rough and uneven ground is essential. It is advisable to take a back pack, a bottle of water and to dress according to the weather. The tour will end at the War Memorial, across from the birthplace of the British Empire. The guide will direct guests back to the ship, which is a walk of approximately 500 metres.
