Can you legally get married on a ship?

We perform legal weddings on Azura, Ventura, Arcadia and Aurora, while commitment ceremonies are available on Arvia, Iona and Britannia. Can the captain perform weddings?

Yes, our Weddings at Sea and Renewal of Vow packages include a ceremony performed by your captain, who can legally officiate the wedding. They will also sign a keepsake certificate for you to commemorate your special memories for years to come. In the unlikely event that your captain is unavailable, your deputy captain will be happy to conduct your ceremony and sign your certificate.

Can we scatter ashes at sea / can I carry ashes on board?

Yes it’s possible to have a committal of ashes ceremony at sea, on cruises of five nights or more. You’ll require approval from the Captain in advance of your cruise and there are some rules and exceptions. We do not assist with scatterings ashore and local approvals in the relevant country would apply. See our committal of ashes page for more information.

Frequently asked questions

We have a range of Ceremonies at Sea packages, designed to meet your individual needs. A ceremony to renew vows starts at £799 for up to 10 guests*, while our Wedding at Sea package starts at £2,700 for up to 10 guests*. The option to hold a more intimate day with our Just the Two of Us package starts at £3,020. These prices include legal fees.

Please note, our Ceremonies at Sea package prices are in addition to the cost of your holiday.

Once you've spoken to a member of our Ceremonies at Sea team and chosen an available ship and booked your holiday, you can book your ceremony. Our wedding specialists are ready and waiting to answer any questions and guide you through all of the options available. So that we know exactly what you want, we'll send you a ceremony planning form four months prior to your date. From there, your wedding specialist will arrange all of the special touches for your day and make your dreams a reality.
