July Cruise Deals

In July, you can join us for a cruise holiday to a range of destinations, including the British Isles, the Mediterranean, Norway with Iceland, the Norwegian Fjords or Western Europe.

We have two dress codes in place to make your time on board that extra bit special. Here’s a useful guide so you know what to expect and you cand dress for any and all occasions.

During the day:  The dress code during the day is just your typical holiday wardrobe. Think t-shirts, shorts and sundresses (unless you’re heading to Northern Europe in winter!). Away from the pool, we ask for shoes to be worn and no pool wear in the ship’s lounges, inside bars, restaurants or reception. It may be chilly on deck and breezy in the evening (even in the tropics), so be sure to pack light layers. We’d also recommend flat shoes for strolling the decks.

Evening dress codes: We have two dress codes that apply in the evenings: Evening Casual and Black Tie. Nights where the dress code is Evening Casual, you can bring out your best shirt, dress and smart, dark denim. For nights where the dress code is Black Tie, make sure to pack your best tux, suit or cocktail dress.

There are some venues on each ship where dress codes don’t apply, so make sure to check your Horizon paper that’s delivered to your cabin each day to check where these are, as they vary ship by ship.

Dress codes for children: For those travelling on family-friendly ships, dress codes also don’t apply to children aged 17 and under. However, they can still dress to impress if they want to! 

A July cruise is great for a traditionally hot summer holiday. Cities and hidden gems alike come alive with the atmospheric buzz of people and, in many regions, a dip in the sea feels just like taking a bath. If you’ve little ones, consider the latter half of July as a possibility when booking a cruise for a holiday the whole family can enjoy.

July is Norway’s hottest month, so get ready for a dazzling combo of scenic views and warm, sunny climes. However, you will want to be prepared for variable weather, as here things can change at a moment’s notice. Because of this, we’d recommend making sure you cover your bases, and consider bringing along:

• Long-sleeved tops
• T-shirts
• Jumpers
• Casual trousers and shirt (for some evenings on board)
• A hat for sun protection
• Shorts
• Trousers
• Sunglasses and sunscreen with SPF
• Raincoat
• Your dinner jacket, cocktail dress or ballgown (for our Black Tie evening)

As Iceland’s hottest month, July brings with it mild, sunny climes that can grow quite warm. The weather in this region can also be fairly unpredictable, so you’ll want your luggage to reflect this. We’d suggest bringing along:

• Long-sleeved tops

• Casual trousers and shirt (for some evenings on board)
• Jumpers
• A hat for sun protection
• Shorts
• Trousers
• Sunglasses and sunscreen with SPF
• Raincoat
• Your dinner jacket, cocktail dress or ballgown (for our Black Tie evening)

In July, the Norwegian Fjords benefit from temperate weather that is just as likely to grow warm as it is to erupt in a sudden sun shower. Hellesylt and Olden have highs of 22°C and lows of 12°C, though Hellesylt experiences three days more rainfall at fifteen days in total for July. Kristiansund expects fewer days of rain at a total of thirteen days, while highs average 18°C and lows 12°C. With temperate lows of 14°C and highs climbing to 20°C, Skjolden experiences ten days of rainfall for the month. With a couple of days more rainfall, Nordfjordeid has highs of 19°C and lows of 13°C. Nearly identical in climate for the month, Stavanger averages highs of 19°C and lows of 12°C, though Stavanger expects two days more of rain at a total of twelve days for July. With two weeks’ worth of rain, Bergen clocks in with lows of 12°C and highs of 18°C, as does Haugesund but with ten days of rain. In Ålesund, highs average 17°C while lows tend not to drop below 12°C, with twelve days of rainfall for the month. Finally, Åndalsnes reaches average highs of 15°C and respectable lows of 10°C for July, with eleven days of rain for the month. 

In July, we travel to Amsterdam (from IJmuiden), in Western Europe, where highs are a pleasant 22°C, lows average 13°C and there are nine days of rain for the month.

With warm highs and temperate lows, Norway in July is considered one of the best months to visit the region. Though you should expect a fair bit of rain, and weather that can change its mind at merely a moment’s notice! In Olden and Hellesylt, highs and lows clock in at 22°C and 12°C, while Hellesylt expects three days more rain for July at fifteen days in total. Kristiansund reaches highs of 18°C and lows of 12°C, with thirteen days of rainfall. A fraction warmer, Skjolden experiences ten days of rain for the month, while lows tend not to stray below 14°C and highs average 20°C. With twelve days of rain for the month, lows in Nordfjordeid dip to 13°C while highs average 19°C, and it attracts twelve days of rain for the month of July. Sharing highs of 19°C and lows of 12°C, Nordfjordeid and Stavanger experience twelve days of rain for the month. Haugesund also has ten days of rainfall for the month of July, while Bergen has fourteen, and both clock in with highs of 18°C and lows of 12°C. With lows of 12°C and highs of 17°C, Ålesund is expected to rain for twelve days of the month; Åndalsnes expects eleven, highs of 15°C and lows of 10°C.

July in Akureyri and Reykjavík features highs that are a temperate 14°C and lows that tend not to dip below 9°C. While Akureyri expects a week’s worth of rainfall, Reykjavík experiences nine days in total for the month.

• The Norwegian Fjords (on family-friendly ship Iona)

Temperate, warm, rainy, sunny – the Norwegian Fjords can be all of these things in July, so it’s important to pack to be prepared! Here’s what we’d recommend bringing along:

Firmly in the throes of summer, the Med in July is a real treat for lovers of hot weather. For your cruise holiday here during this period, you’ll want to base your luggage around staying protected and cool beneath the sun. We’d recommend packing:

• Swimming costume/swim shorts
• Sunscreen with high SPF rating
• Sunglasses
• A hat for sun protection
• Shorts
• Casual trousers and shirt (for some evenings on board)
• Cover-up or similar, e.g., canvas trousers and loose-fitting tops (dark or bright colours are better at absorbing UV rays)
• T-shirts
• Flip-flops or sandals
• A good book
• A light jumper (for the cooler evenings)
• Walking shoes
• Your dinner jacket, cocktail dress or ballgown (for our Black Tie evening)

In July, Western Europe is pleasantly temperate with plenty of sunshine and sun showers. Because of this, we’d recommend packing:
