June Cruise Deals

In the summer month of June, you can travel with us to the Mediterranean, Norway and Iceland, the Norwegian Fjords and Western Europe.

We have two dress codes in place to make your time on board that extra bit special. Here’s a useful guide so you know what to expect and you cand dress for any and all occasions.

During the day:  The dress code during the day is just your typical holiday wardrobe. Think t-shirts, shorts and sundresses (unless you’re heading to Northern Europe in winter!). Away from the pool, we ask for shoes to be worn and no pool wear in the ship’s lounges, inside bars, restaurants or reception. It may be chilly on deck and breezy in the evening (even in the tropics), so be sure to pack light layers. We’d also recommend flat shoes for strolling the decks.

Evening dress codes: We have two dress codes that apply in the evenings: Evening Casual and Black Tie. Nights where the dress code is Evening Casual, you can bring out your best shirt, dress and smart, dark denim. For nights where the dress code is Black Tie, make sure to pack your best tux, suit or cocktail dress.

There are some venues on each ship where dress codes don’t apply, so make sure to check your Horizon paper that’s delivered to your cabin each day to check where these are, as they vary ship by ship.

Dress codes for children: For those travelling on family-friendly ships, dress codes also don’t apply to children aged 17 and under. However, they can still dress to impress if they want to! 

For a traditionally hot summer cruise, June might just be the ideal month to book your holiday. Although if you melt under too-hot weather, in many regions during this time summer is setting in but not yet in full swing, making June potentially a great option. 

The Med’s just about in full summer swing in June, so you’ll want your luggage to be based around keeping cool and protected under the sun. We’d recommend packing:

• Swimming costume/swim shorts
• Sunscreen with high SPF rating
• Sunglasses
• Casual shirt and trousers/skirt or dress (for some evenings on board)
• Cover-up or similar, e.g., canvas trousers and loose-fitting tops (dark or bright colours are better at absorbing UV rays)
• A hat for sun protection
• Shorts
• A light jumper
• T-shirts
• Flip-flops or sandals
• A good book
• Walking shoes
• Your dinner jacket, cocktail dress or ballgown (for our Black Tie evening)

As the region is sunny, temperate and sometimes warm but also subject to highly variable weather, you’ll be able to enjoy your Norway cruise holiday to the fullest if your luggage covers the bases. Here’s what we’d recommend packing:

• Casual shirt and trousers/skirt or dress (for some evenings on board)
• A hat for sun protection

Though it tends to be on the cooler side, Iceland in June is still filled with generous glimpses of sunshine. We’d recommend packing:

In June, the weather in the Norwegian Fjords varies from temperate lows to sunny and warm highs that wouldn’t feel amiss in the Med. Olden clocks in with highs of 20°C and lows of 9°C, and expects ten days of rain for the month. With nine days of rain, Kristiansand doesn’t dip below temperate with lows of 10°C and highs of 19°C. Skjolden expects average highs of 17°C and lows of 11°C, with eleven days of rainfall for the month.

Bergen and Stavanger share nearly identical climes, with highs of 17°C and lows of 10°C, though Bergen has two more days of rainfall totalling twelve. Geiranger has nine days of rainfall for the month, lows of 9°C and highs of 17°C. Meanwhile, Haugesund clocks in at 15°C with fairly mild lows of 10°C, and nine days of rain.

Ålesund has a day fewer of rain, highs of 14°C and lows of 9°C.

Toasty warm, with sunny days that last long into the evening, the Med in June is a summertime dream. In Malta, average highs reach 28°C with lows of 19°C, and it’s a dry month with no rain at all in June. Likewise Gibraltar doesn’t expect any rain for the month, and has highs of 26°C and lows of 18°C­. In Italy, lows are the same, though with four days of rain and highs averaging a very warm 27°C. Croatia clocks in with highs of 26°C and lows of 19°C, plus with five days of rainfall. With just less than a week of rain at six days in total for the month of June, Spain doesn’t tend to dip lower than 17°C and can be as warm as 26°C. France shares the same highs in temperature, and dips just a degree lower than Spain on average, and only has two days of rainfall. With one day of rainfall, Greece tends to get no colder than 19°C and experiences average highs of 25°C.

Likewise Bergen and Stavanger share nearly identical climes, with highs of 17°C and lows of 10°C, though Bergen has two more days of rainfall totalling twelve. Geiranger and Geirangerfjord share a weather pattern of nine days of rainfall for the month, lows of 9°C and highs of 17°C. Meanwhile, Haugesund clocks in at 15°C with fairly mild lows of 10°C, and nine days of rain.

Similarly, Kristiansund reaches respectable highs of 15°C and lows of 9°C, with twelve days of rainfall, and Ålesund has a day fewer of rain, highs of 14°C and lows of 9°C. Romsdalsfjord dips a bit lower, with lows of 8°C and highs of 14°C, plus ten days of rain in June. Leknes clocks in with nine days of rain for the month of June, highs of 12°C and lows of 8°C.

In June, the Norwegian Fjords are subject to variable weather but host to plenty of sunshine, so you’ll want to make sure you cover your bases when it comes to packing. Here’s what we’d recommend bringing along:
