Drive through Saguenay and the borough of Chicoutimi, taking in the Little White House that miraculously survived massive floods in 1996. Soak up the countryside of the Lac-St-Jean region en route to the historic village of Val-Jalbert. Dominated by the 79-metre-high Ouiatchouan Falls (higher than Niagara Falls), the village was built in 1901 to accommodate pulp mill workers, but was gradually abandoned following the mill's closure. Today it's restored to reflect life in the 1920s. Take a guided trolley tour where costumed characters bring Val-Jalbert to life, and get up close to the magnificent falls from the glass platform of the spectacular lookout.
