Known the world over, legendary chef Marco Pierre White has been pushing the boundaries of cuisine for over 30 years. Arriving in London as a 19-year-old with “£7.36, a box of books and a bag of clothes”, he began his training as a commis under maestros Albert and Michel Roux at Le Gavroche. By the age of 33, he had taken the restaurant scene by storm when he became the youngest ever chef to be awarded three Michelin stars. Dubbed the godfather of modern cooking, Marco is regarded by many to have single-handedly put the British culinary scene back on the gastronomy map.

Today, Marco’s passion for serving up superb dishes continues with P&O Cruises. His Celebration Night menus are a treat for all, and, as patron of The Cookery Club he hosts masterclasses and dinners when on board Britannia. And on our Excel class ships, Arvia and Iona, he will host live cooking demos as well as Q&A sessions, serving up answers to all of your culinary qualms.

“The beauty of cooking is it can appeal to everyone, however skilled. Enthusiasm is key. I have created masterclasses for The Cookery Club on Britannia that all guests can enjoy. They include classic fish pie, chicken pie with pastry and Italian seafood dishes, which are simple but full of flavour. When they travel to the Caribbean, guests can look forward to learning how to prepare jerk chicken and caramelised rum-and-coconut bananas, as well as Mexican and Brazilian street food. Marco’s philosophy is clear to see (and taste) at Ocean Grill – to create something special and memorable, but above all wholly enjoyable. In the spirit of all great London grill restaurants, you can savour mouth-watering steaks and seafood in a relaxed, yet sophisticated ambience. As you would expect from one of the world’s leading chefs, attention to detail is paramount, and provenance and quality are key. The dishes, while simple, are masterfully presented, delivering exceptional flavours. Available on board Arcadia for a small cover charge. A supplement is also payable on selected dishes.
