The celebration

To celebrate our partnership with The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, we’re delighted to present the P&O Cruises Inspiration Award – a brand-new category in honour of a person or group whose work, courage, deeds and selflessness have had a positive impact on others.

At a fabulous day of celebrations on Britannia on Friday 6 June with past winners and Pride of Britain hosts Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo, P&O Cruises event host Jeff Brazier unveiled our very own nominations booth. The booth has since been touring the country, calling at Edinburgh, Belfast, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff and Southampton, with Jeff on hand to meet the locals and encourage nominations for this unique award.

Jeff was thrilled to get the opportunity to meet people across the land and shine a light on those who make nominations: ‘I love connecting with people, I love the stories, I enjoy making people feel welcome and special. For me, the booth is like P&O Cruises house and I’m welcoming them into our house to share something special. I’m simply facilitating good news being spread.

‘I want to encourage people to show some gratitude for the people that have touched their lives and have been an important influence for them. Nominating is a selfless task. It’s a really special thing to do – it’s a very important and strong act of gratitude.’

Looking ahead to the awards in October, Jeff’s excited to have been on the full nominations journey. ‘I can’t wait to see the nominations through to people actually winning the awards and maybe say to the winners, “I was there when you were nominated”. That will be really special.’

Britannia hosts Pride of Britain reunion

Britannia hosted a day of celebrations to herald our partnership with The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards. Hosts Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo were welcomed on board together with Jeff Brazier to officially open nominations for the Pride of Britain Awards this year – including the new P&O Cruises Inspiration Award.

The guests of honour were the winners of last year’s Pride of Britain Awards, who came with friends and family to enjoy a celebratory three-course lunch in The Limelight Club.

In a quiet moment, Carol, Ashley and Jeff were thrilled to catch up with four past winners: Molly Leonard, winner of The King’s Trust Young Achiever Award; Michelle Tolley, winner of the Special Recognition Award; Jacob Newsom, winner of the Good Morning Britain Young Fundraiser of The Year Award; and Agnes Nisbett, winner of the TSB Community Hero Award.
