Prepare to be amazed by the sensational Godafoss waterfall as you embark on your panoramic drive. It’s said to be named after the conversion to Christianity – the Waterfall of the Gods. Have your camera at the ready to capture the view of the rushing torrents cascading 40 feet from the horseshoe-shaped, 100-foot-wide precipice.
At the Skutustadir pseudo-craters of nearby Lake Mývatn, enjoy some refreshments while soaking up the dramatic views. Then head to the Dimmuborgir labyrinth, an incredible site where rugged crags and peculiar lava formations have resulted in strange and unusual shapes, creating a fascinating landscape that’s the perfect backdrop for a selfie or two.
The boiling hot springs of Námaskarð are a sight to behold. Marvel at the bubbling purple and yellow sulphur cauldrons and the desolate terrain where no vegetation can survive. The atmosphere here is truly unique and other-worldly.
