Etna 4x4 Adventure
Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe, soaring up to around 109000 feet. Begin with a drive north on the freeway to Giarre where you will commence our scenic drive along the slopes of the mountain, passing through the villages of Santa Venerina, Milo and Fornazzo.
Your guide will reveal the mountain and its secrets to you during the drive. You’ll be taken off road to an old lava flow overlooking the Valle del Bove, for a photo stop. The valley is a huge depression formed in the side of the volcano which is a natural basin where the lava of the recent eruptions flowed.
After a comfort stop at an Alpine hut, you will then continue on to Mount Sartorius, which has been extinct since 1865. Take this opportunity to trek on the volcanoes craters, named after Sartorius von Waltershausen, a scientist who was the first to record the eruptions of Mount Etna.
Enjoy a scenic return journey passing by the villages of Linguaglossa and Fiumefreddo.
