Historic Walking & Panorama
A short drive will take you to Santiago’s Bastion, where your walking tour will commence. Admire the charming colonial architecture of the area before continuing to the San Pedro Claver´s Plaza. Discover the history of Pedro Claver, known as 'the Slave of Slaves', who did all he could to alleviate the suffering of the poor. Your guide will then lead you towards Custom Plaza, the city’s commercial centre during colonial times.
Continuing to Plaza de la Proclamación, you will see the Cathedral and the Governor’s building, which was, in colonial days, the headquarters of the Spanish government. Walk through the Plaza de Bolivar to view the statue of Simon Bolivar and the Inquisition Palace (exterior view only).
Your walking tour will finish back at Santiago’s Bastion and continue by coach to Las Bóvedas. Enjoy a short shopping stop and a brief sightseeing drive through Bocagrande. A photo stop will be also be made at San Felipe de Barajas Fortress for a panoramic view over Cartagena.
