A Taste of Monemvasia

With your guide, you’ll embark on a drive inland to the traditional village of Velies and the beautifully restored mansion of Liotrivi. The country estate was once the family home of the famous Greek poet Giannis Ritsos, before being converted into an olive oil mill and winery in the 1930’s. Today, it is a fabulous agro-tourism facility which continues to follow traditional production methods for olive oil, wine and bread making.

Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the olive groves and vineyard before visiting the old wine cellar. Discover the various stages of wine production and the century old olive oil presses, which extract a rich extra-virgin olive oil. Inside the mansion, on the upper floor there are a number of Ritsos’ literary acclaimed poems on display.

Finally, it’s time to tempt your taste buds and sample the delicious produce. With stunning views across the countryside, a delicious buffet of traditional products will be served in the olive grove. Enjoy stone baked bread, feta cheese, olives, marmalades and of course the mansions very own wine.
