Accessible Leisurely Haugesund
Haugesund, Norway

2:00 Hours
Enjoy a snapshot of Haugesund and its surrounds on a journey to some of the area’s prettiest parts.
Relax and soak up stories of the Vikings who lived here, long before the city became a prosperous hub for herring fishing. Your guide will point out key landmarks as you drive through the central zone, such as the pastel pink Town Hall – built in 1931 as a gift to the people from a local ship magnate and his wife.
Take the chance for a quick walk round the Haraldshaugen national monument. Raised in 1872, it commemorates the Battle of Hafrsfjord when Norway was gathered into one kingdom by King Harald Fairhair and is said to stand on the site where he’s buried.
Pause at the Steinsfjellet viewpoint and soak up the spectacular vistas. This picturesque spot is well-loved among locals (no wonder!) and, at 750 feet above sea level, it provides stunning photo opportunities taking in the city and stretching out to sea.
