The Hippy Market of Punta Arabi takes place every Wednesday and is located on the premises of a famous tourist destination (a resort catering to the young generation). It all began in 1973 when the resort management offered the local hippies a chance to sell their handicrafts and products to the tourists spending a few days on holiday in Club Punta Arabi.

In the beginning, the market only had 5 stalls: Maggie selling her wonderful cakes, a lady coming from Formentera to sell her warm woolly sweaters, another person selling Indian jewelers and children swapping toys to the rhythm of violins, guitars and jam sessions. Nowadays, the ‘mercadillo’ has developed into a fully fledged life-support-system for many families and businesses on the island.

The market is as colorful and international as always and over the years it has become the hotspot and a must for any visitor of Ibiza. You’ll have around 2½ hours to spend at the Hippy Market. Browse the stalls for unique gifts or simply relax in one of the restaurants or bars and soak up the lively atmosphere.
