Enjoy an enchanting walk of discovery through the ancient streets of Las Palmas’ old town – Vegueta.
Sit back and enjoy a scenic coastal ride to the old town of Vegueta, in Las Palmas. This historic and quaint district is filled with elaborate Spanish architecture, typical Canarian balconies and picturesque squares.
During your guided walk through the bustling cobblestone lanes, you’ll soak up the ancient charm, while discovering the many secrets hidden within this captivating neighbourhood.
You’ll see the exterior of the twin-towered Cathedral of Santa Ana. With construction beginning in 1497 and lasting almost four centuries, it boasts a mix of gothic, renaissance and neoclassical architectural styles. In the same square, Plaza de Santa Ana, you’ll also find the elegant Episcopal Palace.
A highlight of your walk is sure to be La Casa de Colon, or Columbus’ House. This is the home the intrepid explorer stayed in while one of his ships was repaired for his voyage to discover the new world. Today it’s a museum housing artefacts that link the Canaries to the new world.
