Described as the finest antique museum in the Caribbean, Greenwood House is one of Jamaica’s great houses. From floor to ceiling, the House is magnificently decorated with authentic antiques. Greenwood House was built in the early 18th century by Sir Richard Barrett, cousin of Elizabeth Barrett-Browning, a prominent poet of the Victorian era. The House was one of the few great houses to escape damage in the 1831 Christmas rebellion and is currently occupied by the present owners. Among the genuine treasures are an inlaid rosewood piano, a first-edition library, many fine portraits, and a rare collection of antique musical instruments, including a barrel organ. From the elegance of Greenwood, continue on a sightseeing drive, before returning to the port.
