A Snapshot of New Orleans
Embark on a drive to the fringes of the French Quarter, before heading down historic Esplanade Avenue, where you’ll see the mansions of Creole merchants nestled among 100-year-old oak trees.
New Orleans is renowned for its styled cemeteries, and a visit to the Louis III Cemetery will show you the many elaborate above ground tombs.
You’ll have an opportunity to see the New Orleans Museum of Art, which is located at the end of a tree-lined avenue and the entrance to City Park. This neo-classical building was designed by Chicago architect, Samuel Marx. Here, a short stop will be made to enjoy the surroundings and perhaps purchase a drink.
Afterwards, your drive will continue towards Lake Pontchartrain and through the old town of Carrollton. At St Charles Avenue, you’ll follow the streetcar route to Tulane and Loyola Universities, and Audubon Park with its beautifully restored mansions. This narrated tour will also include a glimpse of the spectacular Superdome, before heading back to the pier.
